The sett was established after design archives were researched by the respected authority on tartans, Keith Lumsden. It has since been adopted generally.
The cloth illustrated here is woven in Selkirk, Scotland, by a family-run business specialising in tartan made on traditional shuttle looms that give a natural edge to the woollen material.
The company has earned a reputation for keeping high quality, value and customer care as its main aims.
This superb quality Heavyweight 450 gram (16oz.) cloth is best for kilts because its pleats hang so much better than in lighter weaves. It is also cheaper to produce in this double width 142cms (56"), so you get more for less money.
If you want a kilt length, order 4 metres. 3.65 metres of double width Tartan is the required amount for an average kilt, leaving you enough spare to make, say, a very nice scarf.
The price shown is per metre and you will need to enter the number of metres you require in the Quantity box before adding the item to your basket.
To save your time and money, the weavers will despatch your cloth to you directly.
If you are not resident in the United Kingdom, the Paypal system will automatically show the price in your national currency before you submit your payment. For a quick check, use this link: http://www.xe.com/ucc.
